Help Us Help You
Keeping Valley Ranch running beautifully, smoothly and safely isn’t a one-person job. While IFCD 3 oversees the construction and maintenance of the levee, pump station, canals, ponds and other storm drainage management facilities, support from you – the residents – makes a big impact on our success.
Below are some things you can do to help us with our flood control efforts.
- Proper Lawn Care – Properly maintaining your yard has a trickle effect on Valley Ranch flood control. Putting in the effort to establish and maintain a healthy, lush lawn helps to absorb and slow excess water during heavy storms. As the weather starts to heat up, do your best to maintain your lawn with proper fertilization, watering, weed control and mowing.
- Picking Up Trash – Every piece of trash that makes it into your trash bin is one less item that ends up getting washed or blown into Valley Ranch waterways. Once litter ends up in our waterways, it negatively impacts wildlife and flood control efforts. Being diligent about throwing away your trash, as well as picking up any trash you see left on the ground, helps our waterways stay clean.
- Flagging Maintenance – Conducting maintenance and repairs is crucial to ensuring our flood prevention structures remain effective. While IFCD 3 conducts routine inspections of the community’s levees, canals and other flood control structures, you can help us by flagging areas of concert. Fallen tree? Massive trash buildup in a canal? Crumbling retention wall along a canal? Please contact IFCD 3 through our website and we’ll send someone out for further inspection.
- Get Involved – The goal to educate and inform the community about the importance of flood control, litter abatement, recycling and beautification of Valley Ranch is a team effort. Organizations across Irving, including Keep Irving Beautiful, Valley Ranch Association, Valley Ranch Green Club and local schools dedicate volunteer hours, educational courses and funding towards Valley Ranch’s prosperity. Want to know the best part? These organizations welcome volunteers who want to join in on the mission!
We greatly value your support as we continue to provide flood control to Valley Ranch. Your diligence allows us to better serve you and the Valley Ranch community.
